Virginia visitors spent a record $36.2 billion in 2025
The statewide figure is out. Locality-level numbers, which is where operators can actually see their own market, are due around Labor Day.
Governor Spanberger announced on August 11 that visitor spending in Virginia reached a record $36.2 billion in 2025.
The statewide number is the headline. The number that matters to an individual operator is the locality breakdown, and the Virginia Tourism Corporation has said the 2025 locality-specific data will be available around Labor Day. That is this week.
For scale on what those breakdowns show: Loudoun County led the Commonwealth in 2023 with $4.5 billion in visitor spending, up 12.5% over 2022, supporting 18,213 tourism jobs and $1.1 billion in wages, and generating $147.4 million in local tax revenue.
